slippin into darkness 2016

somehow the title of the WAR classic hit song seems apropos right now. Donald Trump has been elected the next president and i have to say i am stunned. I'm totally flabbergasted!. One of the most divisive candidates in the history of American politics won, in the modern age when most politicians hide their true feelings and put on the best face he did no such thing.

Described as racist, sexist, ignorant, misogynistic and the antichrist by some and people still voted for him. Nothing he said or did seemed to matter. nothing about his character mattered. nothing about his policies having no substance mattered, America just wanted a man in the white house. I wonder if Bernie Sanders would have won, i don't know but this is embarrassing.

The world is laughing at us and afraid. its not partisan speaking, even republicans were against him and yet here we are. the things he said didn't matter is all i can echo. the self same things Obama was derided for being when he ran, trump was exactly that...and yet FOX news embraced him.

he was a celebrity, tv star, no experience, elitist, anti-woman, anti black  and mexican candidate....And he still won

He was openly supported by racist which he was slow to denounce....and he still won

Some times the bad guys when, i guess that makes victory for good all the more special.

the worst thing about it is that the man he disrespected has to turn over the office to him. Of all the things Barrack Obama  should do...he wont, he will be respectful to someone that questioned his intelligence and American citizenship because that is who Barrack Obama is and was as a leader...something Donald Trump could learn from

digital comic museum

do you want to read comics online? do you want to read old comics online? if you answered yes to one of those questions i have a site for you.

http://digitalcomicmuseum.com

Its a site dedicated to golden age comics most that are public domain. what is golden age..that means the bygone age of the late 30's or 40's.  These comics were on the racks when superman and batman first came out and were competitors. i discovered this site and i was surprised i knew nothing of these heroes from the past, most of the companies went out of business and stopped making comics.

Some of the most famous DC comic heroes were from other companies that sold the characters to dc when they went belly up like-plastic man, blue beetle, phantom lady and captain marvel (of course DC had a hand in the big red cheese going away)

Go check it out, in addition to superhero comics they have romance, cowboy, science fiction, horror, funny animals and whatever else was made into a comic

Police Above Reproach

There have been a rash of police killing citizens in the last few years that has spurred the black lives matter movement. Black lives matter means black lives matter because police shouldn't be able to just kill citizens with impunity with seemingly no good reason.

The problem is that no one is allowed to question the police, the minute you say this video or situation doesn't pass the eye test you are called a police hater. Even after all the facts are in that dont exactly exonerate the police officer or back his narrative 100 percent  we are supposed to drop it.

The ferguson situation comes to mind. If you are armed with a weapon against a unarmed citizen you should be able to subdue him from at least 10 or 5 feet away without killing him.

We know these neighborhoods have dangerous people in them but everyone in these neighborhoods are not criminals. some criminals are black but not all blacks are criminals.

I dont have the answers but we need police......

Feminist or white feminist

In her acceptance speech at the Oscars Patricia Arquette made a impassioned plea for civil rights and equality for woman.
"It’s time for all the women in America and all the men that love women, and all the gay people, and all the people of color that we’ve all fought for to fight for us now"
She got in a little trouble for her speech with the internet being the way it is and people listening even closer. They claimed she was only advocating for white woman, later she clarified that's not what she meant. Looking back on the history of feminism in this country her words are exactly what she meant and in line with American feminism. A quote attributed to Susan B Anthony is:
"I will cut off this right arm of mine before I will ask for the ballot for the Negro and not for the woman"
Not to say Anthony wasn't a friend of the negro she was a anti slave voice even at the age of 17 and was a agent for the American Anti-Slavery Society. The American feminist movement has by and large been a movement for white women by white women. The black feminist has battled on two fronts, the specter of racism and sexism while white feminist have only battled sexism.

Look at any picture of feminist parades and you will mostly see black woman if present in the back.
Understandably people of color have had to worry about racism first and were and still seen as a monolithic group but each "minority group" is made up of men and women. The next time a feminist talks of women ponder whether they mean all women or just white woman

purple rain

its with sad news I say Prince has died. The musical royalty of purple was found dead in his home at paisley park. Another great gone too soon at 57. Of course we all know his hits like Purple Rain from the Grammy and Oscar winning album of the same name. we have countless hits too many to name-1999, little red corvette, sign of the times, kiss, raspberry beret to name a few. In later years his popularity had waned with new songs but the older songs were always popular. rest in peace Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016)

Japanese anime characters white and japanese

whenever you see a anime the characters look white..white hair, white eyes, white features. Obviously they are white..right? The answer is not so simple. Japanese anime can be traced back to Osamu Tezuka creator of  Astro Boy. when asked why his characters don't have Asian eyes he said that he was influenced by Disney cartoons so he made the characters have big round eyes like Disney characters.

This explanation would suffice if not for other features most common to white people like multiple colors of hair and pointed noises and colored eyes. The characters have Asian names and live in japan but are clearly white. Don't say white people don't have green or purple hair...with hair ranging from black to brown, red and blond is green and purple really that much of a stretch? There are characters that are clearly Asian but in the popular cartoons they are few and far between. Akira is the exception where characters appear to be Asian and white together.

Recently there was a uproar over Scarlet Johnson being tapped to play the heroine of the popular anime Ghost In The Shell. Although I can understand people wanting the character to be played by a Asian actress they are misinformed. The character has a Japanese name, lives in japan but is drawn white.

Confusion ensues when certain characters look white but also have features and hairstyles that could be Japanese.
