Bettie Page

bettie page
Before the bleached blond babes and before the super sized silicon filled breast of today, woman were more natural looking. sex icons of a bygone age like Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, Jayne Mansfield and Betty Page will be remembered forever.

unlike other sex icons Betty was famous for her risque bondage photos and her dark banged raven hair. her look is still being duplicated today.

Page suffered a heart attack nine days earlier and never regained consciousness. she died on Dec 11, 2008 at the age of 85. she spent the last years of her life in seclusion

In her old age, she refused to be photographed, wishing to preserve her mythic status.

"I want to be remembered, as I was when I was young and in my golden times ... I want to be remembered as the woman who changed people's perspectives concerning nudity in its natural form."

Christmas card exchange-get a card from me!!

charlie brown Christmas

As I have gotten older Christmas has had less and less meaning for me. When I was a kid I was all about the presents but somewhere down the line not being able to give gifts like I wanted soured me on the holiday.

Now mostly I enjoy Christmas vicariously through my nephew, making sure he gets the hottest games for whatever video game system he has. Recently in the last few years I have gained some enjoyment by sending or giving out Christmas cards.

Mailing them to people, leaving them on windshields, giving them to cashiers at the bank and drive through restaurants, some I don't even know. Anyway I would love to give out some this year so if you read this post between Nov, 18th 2008-DEC 1,2008 sign up to receive a Christmas card and if I can, I will send you one.

Leave your: full name and address and if you are not from the United States leave your country and zip code.

pushing daisies

pushing daisies
So another show I like is going to be canceled. The Nielsen’s ratings system really needs to be overhauled, are we really suppose to believe the opinions of a few people are the viewing habits of millions of Americans. Anyway about Pushing Daises it is one of the most creative and interesting shows to come to prime time TV in a loooooong time, I'll be sorry to see it go.

I guess I should describe the show a bit for the uninformed. The series is about a guy named Ned that is a pie maker with a unique ability, the ability to bring the dead back to life with a touch, he also can "redead" them by another touch. The only drawback is if he does not redead something after 60 seconds something or someone else has to die to balance the scales out.

he is joined on the show by his partner Emerson Cod, a private investigator that uses Ned's gift to help solve crimes and his childhood friend and girlfriend Charlotte(A woman he brought back to life and can never touch again or she will die again). The rest of the cast is rounded out by his waitress , Olive Snook and Charlotte's two aunts Vivian and Lily Charles. also his revived dog Digby.

some of the funny things about election 2008

Election 2008 was historic and also funny, from the things the candidates said to what was said about them on late night TV and SNL. here are some of the funny moments

SOUTHPARK ELECTION 2008 PARODY

South park made a episode that showed that the whole election was not about change but spare change, as both candidates for the presidency are revealed to be thieves and try to pull off an Ocean's 11 type caper to steal the hope diamond.

candidates joke at Alfred e Smith charity dinner

The two candidates took time out from campaigning to attend the 63rd annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner, a charity event organized by the Catholic Archdiocese of New York, a dinner where they showed their lighter side.

Tina Fey does Sarah Palin

Saturday Night Live had been doing political parodies for most of the election season but the ratings went through the roof when Tina Fey started doing her impression of Governor Sarah Palin.

male enhancement pills

Do male enhancement pills work?

There are a lot of claims made about male enhancement pills and I tend to think they don't work. There is an infomercial running on late night TV with a bevy of beauties sitting around discussing there past relationships. Each woman complains about how small their partner was and how it affected the relationship. After seeing this infomercial you will quickly call an order up a case of their products. When Viagra came out guys went wild about it, comedians made jokes, studies were done on it, Bob Dole advertised it. If male enhancement pills worked, the company would be the richest company in the world. Now when I say male enhancement I mean the claim that pills can increase the length of your" little partner". If a pill made you bigger, guys would be taking these things like Tic-Tacs. So my answer, researched on WebMD is no.

Barack Obama wins presidency

barack obama wins presidency
After a long and contentious campaign at times Barack Obama wins the presidency. The first man of African descent, the first ethnic person other than white to hold this position. I don't know what the future holds but for now we have a snapshot in history.

Today is November 4th 2008, Election Day and it is raining here in Virginia Hopefully a little bit if rain won’t deter voters from going to the polls. Today the country votes for either John McCain or Barrack Obama so by Wednesday we will no what kind of history will be made, the first black president or the first female vice president

blacks in jail

I know black people are in jail but I never knew the exact numbers , 2.3 million people in jail. According to the June 2007 report of the Bureau of Justice Statistics that counts federal, state and local jails, It is 40 percent. men and women

truth in politics

You do yourself a disservice if you blindly follow the word of politicians, any politicians whether they are "your guy" or from another party. I have found instances where both of the current presidential candidates made lies and half truths about the other and if you just follow the cult of your party you will not know the truth. I implore you to research claims yourself and not be spoon fed information by people with an agenda. Here are some sites I have found helpful, check them out I am begging you, I am begging you

why blacks vote democrat

A lot of people wonder why black people always vote for Democrats and outside of the historical view I can offer my own opinion. To some blacks the Republican party seems a party mostly concerned with the welfare of the white and rich and a friend of business over the little man. What always puzzled me was when did black people switch to the Democratic party.

I have been reading some things and I have discovered that black people started to vote Democrat when President Franklin D. Roosevelt came into office in 1933

"Blacks did not come into the Democratic Party until Roosevelt's New Deal began
in 1933, and even then it was very slow. The Democratic Party in the South was
organized like a private club that banned all but whites. Any black who had the
temerity to challenge the system might end up being jailed, or in some extreme
cases, pay with his life"-

O.J. Freshly Squeezed

You would think that someone that literally got away with murder would stay on the straight and narrow, especially with the eyes of the world on you. Not O.J he has been in the news a couple of more times since he was found not guilty of killing his ex-wife and Ron Goldman. He has assaulted people in traffic, written books about the murder case and here's the capper he tried to forcefully regain some memorabilia that was said to have been stolen from him. Well you can only tempt fate so many times and his latest caper has landed him in jail after a speedy trial.Simpson was convicted of conspiracy, burglary, kidnapping, robbery and assault. He is looking at a possible long sentence. I only have one thing to say to that "good enough for ya dummy"

attack of the ever increasing 800 billion dollar bailout

Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water, the bailout bill increases in amount and pork. Many of the politicians would not sign the bill until it was filled with other things that some are calling pork. These new parts to the bailout could increase the amount to 800 billion. Even more troubling California is begging for a 7 billion dollar handout saying they could run out of cash.

700 Billion Dollar Bailout

Photobucket

It would be irresponsible of me to not comment on the current financial crisis going on even if it is just for future generations. here is a link to the new york times that could explain it better than I ever could The Wall Street Bailout Plan Explained
all I want to know is when it is talk of universal health care there is no money but when we want to go to war or bail out giant financial institutions the government can pull money out of its ass. the tax payers are going to be paying for it anyway so why not give us socialized medicine.

p.s it was not the dems holding up the bailout but the reps

High cost of getting sick

Heath care is a big problem in this country, the United States, affordable health care I should say. Although we have some of the best doctors in the world you really can’t afford to get sick. I recently went to the hospital after having a slight tightness in my stomach/chest region since I am overweight my family assumed it was heart problems. Well my visit to the hospital consisted of breathing in some medicine that was supposed to help clear my airways, taking some aspirin, having them draw blood for test and taking two pictures. I took one on a standing x-ray like machine and another on a machine similar to an MRI. I’m not sure but I had to lie down on it and be scanned from above. Well I got my doctor bill, which was $400.00, and today I got my bill for the rest, which was a whopping $8000.They wanted me to come back and take some more tests there is no telling how much that would have cost.

Sarah Smiles

The closer the election gets the more it seems Barack Hussein Obama may not be the next president of the united states. The introduction of Sarah Palin has really energized Hillary Clinton supporters it seems to jump party lines and go for McCain. A odd thing since the two female candidates seem to be far apart on a lot of issues and their only commonality seems to be that they both are female. It makes you wonder would we even know about Sarah Palin had Hillary been put on as Obamas vp or if she had won the democratic nomination. Since she was not really vetted like vp candidates are usually, it makes you think she was chosen to lure in Hillary supporters looking to elect a woman. Nawwwwww, people wouldn't ignore issue and vote for someone because they identified with their race, sex or age would they?

SE7EN or SEVEN

seven the movie

I watched the thriller seven last night and it was as good as I remembered, real atmospheric and moody. I also realized something about the movie, the two detectives played by Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman never save anyone. They show up after the crimes have been committed and in the movie's climactic ending Pitt kills the serial killer.

The Whopper beat the Bigmac

Back when I was a kid my brother, sister , me and my friends used to walk up to Burgerking and get food. back in the 70's Burgerking had all type of fun promotions. One promotion had customers saying"The Whopper beat the Big mac" and you would get a Whopper free with the purchase of another Whopper. Well another promo was free Meadowlark Lemon posters with the purchase of food. I don't know how many of these posters I got but I got quite a few, I had forgotten about it until recently. Good times.......

wnba brawl in detroit is a first

fight in wnba basketball game
Striking a blow for equality among the sexes women in the WNBA had a bit of a skirmish Tuesday July 22, 2008 that made fans recall memories of the brawl between the Indiana Pacers and the Detroit Pistons in the NBA.

It was sparked by Plenette Pierson knocking Candace Parker down after a made free throw by Ferdinand Harris then it went downhill from there. Parker pulled Pierson down, Parker then was tackled by the Shock's Deanna Nolan. Players and coaches from both teams joined in, and Mahorn -- who said he simply was trying to separate players -- pushed the Sparks' Lisa Leslie at one point and knocked her to the court. Los Angeles Spark DeLisha Milton-Jones then pushed and punched Mahorn in the back.

So it just goes to show a planet with only women would not be war free and peaceful

early comic to movie strip

pam grier as friday foster

friday foster comic strip
Most people, me included did not know that Friday foster, a blaxplotation 1975-feature film starring the great "Pam Grier" was actually based on a newspaper comic strip. Friday Foster, which debuted on January 18, 1970, was the first mainstream syndicated comic strip to star a black woman.A breakthrough newspaper strip-she was a globe- hopping photographer's assistant-ex-fashion model always getting into trouble....the strip spawned a "comic book" by DELL . The strip was created by writer Jim Lawrence and artist Jorge Longeron, and syndicated by The Chicago Tribune Syndicate.

life imitating art

Back in the 80's John Byrne( a comic book artist) wrote a story about Dr Doom that rings true in the real world. Dr Doom was a despot ruler of his fictional country of Latveria and he ruled with an iron fist. Well he was defeated by the fantastic four and another guy named Zorba and thrown out of the country, well later we find that without doom the country goes to heck. similar to the way Iraq fell apart when Saddam was defeated. It was rumored that Saddam and Osama Bin Laden did not like each other

first black superhero

Marvel comics’ Black Panther is always trumpeted as the first black superhero but I think that distinction goes to someone else. Back in 1947 a comic called All Negro Comics had a character very similar to Black Panther, Lion Man –

This Tarzanesque adventure story begins with this foreword: “American-born, college educated, Lion Man is a young scientist, sent by the United Nations to watch over the fearsome ‘MAGIC MOUNTAIN’ of the African Gold Coast. Within its crater lies the world’s largest deposit of URANIUM – ENOUGH TO MAKE AN ATOM BOMB THAT COULD DESTROY THE WORLD.

Lion Man’s job is to report on the doings of any treacherous nation that might seek to carry away any of the lethal stuff for the purpose of war. Lion Man has been warned against agents of a certain warlike nation who might try to smuggle some of the mountain’s treasure out of Africa. He was invented by Geo. J. Evans Jr and The publisher, writer and “President of All-Negro Comics, Inc.”, Orrin. C. Evans you can read the comic here for free  DIGITAL COMIC MUSEUM

fun with adobe photoshop

Fantastic Four #1 is one of the most parodied covers in comics. I thought I would try to combine the cover with a real street to see what it would look like in real life. In the first picture it is in color the second is in black and white, both done with my limited knowledge of Adobe photoshop.

R KELLY ACQUITTED

After six years and a whole lot of songs R Kelly has been acquitted of having sex with a minor. Now I have never seen the tape but enough people have to be reasonably sure it is R Kelly. Yet again a video tape does nothing to solidify a guilty verdict, as long as people are involved things on a video can be explained away, I don't know if this is a good or bad thing. The Rodney king case was not helped by a video tape the officers were found not guilty until a riot and a civil case so... tape at your peril

fantastic four: lost in translation

I read something online recently from one of the actors that plays the part of johnny storm in the Fantastic Four movies. He said he does not think there will be a third and by the words he said in the piece it seemed like he was not up for another anyway. I along with a lot of other fans of the comic were... are, disappointed by the way the movies have been presented. My first problem was with the casting, not that Jessica Alba is not pretty but she somehow never captured the essence of Susan Richards not just her being half white and Mexican but that she is more pin up material than actress. I always thought they should have gone with like Scarlett Johansson or to go older some one like the actress from the movie Boogie Nights, Heather Graham. Reed Richards as portrayed in the movie is a little weak not the confident scientist as in the books. The Thing or Ben Grimm was cast okay. The best performances and most interesting characters in both movies have been the Human Torch and Doctor Doom. I am in the process of writing a script for FF3 entitled Quest For The Cosmic Rod. I don't know if it will ever see the light of day but I am making it for my own pleasure.

Bachelorette

The Bachelorette premiered Monday, if you don't know what the Bachelorette is it is the female companion to the Bachelor, a show in which a man chooses from a group of woman that is whittled down each episode until he is left with one woman that he presumably will marry. Well the show came on and I was looking to see if any black men were stupid enough to try out and sure enough there was one and predictably he was among the first eliminated. Black people please save your self the embarrassment and stick to shows which feature your own kind. No white man or woman is gonna marry you unless you are a supermodel or actress in the case of a white man or a million dollar athlete in the case of a white woman.

somewhere B.I.G and Tupac are laughing

Hip Hop mogul and bully "Suge" Marion Knight was knocked unconscious in a club and was photographed while out. I know it is only one knockout but I know it made a lot of people happy to see it the same way Paris's jailing perked up every body's day

Family Guy Spins Off Cleveland

A new spin-off of family guy is coming on starring Cleveland, Peter’s black neighbor and I am a little weary. I know the kind of humor MacFarlane employs and I can take a few black stereotype jokes but a whole show dedicated to them every week I could not stand. And is it me or are black jokes all the rage now, in several of my favorite shows black jokes are deployed frequently and I can laugh at myself but it is starting to feel like my childhood when I was subjected to those awful Tex Avery Tom and Jerry cartoons in which after every explosion you would cringe because there would be a person left standing in black face making a offensive joke, lets just hope those days are gone now.

american dad schoolhouse rock

Remember those old Schoolhouse Rock cartoons from the 80's. They were really fun and educational i can remember humming those tunes in school when i needed to know what an adverb or conjunction was. Well American Dad has done yet another parody of the cartoon with the Iran Contra scandal as the subject and it is as informative as the real Schoolhouse Rock cartoons. It is also sad to believe that no one was really punished for the illegal things that went on.

jacked at the pump

When I watched the movie Mad Max, Road Warrior I thought the concept of not having gas was a fantasy or at least not to be realized in my lifetime. With the gas prices spiking the way they are it seems to be a reality now. I never thought I would have to pay 5 dollars a gallon for gas. For all those people that compared gas to milk would you pay that much for a gallon of milk?

The joker

nicholson,romero and hamill
The Joker is one of the oldest and well known Batman villain's and maybe most popular. Several actors have portrayed him on the small screen and big screen and now the deceased Ledger takes a stab at it. I think his performance may be remembered as one of the best.

metal gear solid

I did not know anything about MetalGearSolid before I played the demo but when I played the game I was blown away. The game was very cinematic in its approach and the stealth element was new to me after playing Tombraider where you can go in guns blazing and survive if you had enough medipacks. Another interesting thing was the interaction with the colonel and other advisers through codec. The demo had me hooked and i went out and got the game and discovered a complex story filled with drama and twist and turns. Like Ratchet and Clank, Snake can hold an array of weapons, some real and some fake. Metal gear is on its last game now and I think the franchise is one of the most important in video game history, console history at the least.

Grand theft auto IV

Rockstar games has released Grand Theft Auto IV the next gen version of the series and it looks fantastic. Of course it already has attracted attention for being too realistic and violent. People just don't get that all video games are not for kids and that a large majority of gamers are over 20 years old. So parents if you have kids that are under 16 or are just too immature to handle the game then make sure they don't play it

calling all heroes

Ironman debuts in theaters today and by all accounts, from critics anyway it may be a good movie. I am just amazed how they were able to get the movie made after years of marvel not being able to make a decent comic adapted film now they cant seem to miss

The Incredible Hulk returns to the big screen with an all-new movie after the much-maligned version by director Ang Lee. Personally I liked the performances in Lee’s version although it did not have the action that a lot of comic fans wanted. I hope this version is superior and it should be with the cast lined up to star - Edward Norton, Tim Roth, William Hurt and Liv Tyler. Although Liv does not have the acting chops, she is competent

History in the making

The United States is in a unique position this election season. For the first time there is a chance a white woman will be president or a black man could be president. There have been women in power around the world before like Margaret Thatcher in Britain and Indira Gandhi in India but never in the states. Black men have been rulers before too but in countries where they are in the majority. Either way history in the making.........

happy to be me

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

that is a quote from the bible and for the most part I find it true but for most it is not. I am not cool, never have been. I don't walk to be cool, I don't say a lot of slang, I don't dress to be cool. I just try to be me.

I still watch cartoons, I still play video games and I still like to get the toy from the kids meal, although i just collect them and don't play with them.

I guess I am what you would call a geek or nerd and you know what...that is okay.
